2017 INFINITI QX80 vs 2017 Volvo XC90

Serving Coral Gables, Miami, and Kendall, FL

Available in three trims, the 2017 INFINITI QX80 is a luxurious SUV that boasts plenty of premium amenities. The Volvo XC90 is a lavish SUV that also has lots of high-end features. Equipped with a 5.6 L V8 engine and the All-Mode 4WD, the QX80 is more powerful and versatile than the XC90. The INFINITI InTouch infotainment system also offers more connectivity options than the XC90's Sensus Connect.

The INFINITI QX80 is driven by a standard 5.6 L V8 engine that cranks out 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of peak torque. This eight-cylinder engine runs on the Variable Valve Event and Lift (VVEL) and Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS) to achieve such impressive performance. The turbocharged and supercharged engines in the Volvo XC90 offer a lot less power and torque than this V8 engine. Only the XC90 plug-in hybrid models match the capabilities of the QX80. However, keep in mind that the plug-in hybrid powertrain uses an electric motor to boost the total output. When equipped with the All-Mode 4WD, this INFINITI delivers better off-road performance than the XC90, which rolls on the AWD with Instant Traction. You can set the All-Mode 4WD to the Auto, 4H or 4L settings depending on road conditions. This powerful SUV also has a maximum towing capacity of 8,500 pounds. Another innovative installation in the QX80 is the Hydraulic Body Motion Control, which absorbs vibrations and shocks.

The INFINITI QX80 comes standard with a 10-way power driver's seat and eight-way power front passenger's seat. These ergonomic front seats also include two-way power lumbar supports and heating. The second row includes two heated captain's chairs with a wide armrest and storage compartment. Designed to accommodate three passengers, the third row has a bench seat that can be reclined with the touch of a power button. Aluminum kick plates and ash wood with an open pore matte add plenty of sophistication to the car's interior design. Nine cup holders and four bottle holders are some of the family-friendly amenities in the QX80's spacious cabin. The tri-zone automatic temperature control system includes a micro filter to maintain comfortable air quality in all three rows. By contrast, the Volvo XC90 T5 editions come with an automatic climate control system that has two zones.

The INFINITI Connection Personal Security includes convenient services such as Automatic Collision Notification, Enhanced Roadside Assistance and Scheduled Maintenance Notification. Connected Search, Destination Send-to-Vehicle and My Schedule are some of the applications that are included in the INFINITI Connection Convenience and Concierge portal. Additionally, the INFINITI Connection Remote Services come with the Max Speed Alert, Drive Zone Alert and Valet Alert. Although it has plenty of connectivity options, the Volvo on Call app simply doesn't deliver as many services as the INFINITI InTouch platform. The QX80 also comes standard with 13 Bose speakers that deliver rich sound quality. You may upgrade to the Deluxe Technology Package to enjoy the 15-speaker Bose Cabin Surround Sound System. To get the 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system in the Volvo XC90, you'll need to spend more for a sound package. In addition to having wireless Bluetooth technology, both SUVs offer Wi-Fi connections that simultaneously support multiple devices.
